Eastern County Champions Cleveland County have announced their team for the Eastern County Cup match on Saturday August 14th, when they face Flatts Victoria at the Sea Breeze Oval.
The two teams last played for the Trophy against each other back in 1981 at Lord’s in St. David’s. The year before at Sea Breeze Oval, Cleveland were the Cup Holders but they were beaten in the Final Round by Flatts by 8 wickets, however Cleveland would get a chance for revenge when they drew Flatts in the First Round in 1981.
In the 1981 game Champions Flatts were bowled all out for 117 with captain Harrington Harvey Jr. the top scorer with 30, while Grant Smith had bowling figures of 10-3-20-4 to lead the Cleveland bowling attack. In reply McNeil McGowan the Cleveland captain scored 33 as they scored 118/7 to win by 3 wickets. Brandon Woolridge was the pick of the Flatts bowlers with figures of 9-2-20-3.
Dennis Musson Jr. will lead the 2010 team with Shaki Darrell as his Vice Captain, the champions have also selected 3 Colts and three guest players.
Dion Stovell from Southampton Rangers is a Colts and a guest player, his Southampton Rangers teammate Curtis Jackson is also a Guest Player along with Misheal Paynter from St. George’s Cricket Club and Jeffery Tyrell from Young Men Social Club. The other Colts include Damali Bell and Makai Young.
