Head Coach Jeremy Salaam IslandStats.com The Bermuda Football Association have announced that a Women’s Senior Academy team consisting of twenty players, will be off to Tampa, Florida for a Ten Day International Friendly.
The purpose for this international friendly is to gauge a better understanding for our Women’s international competition. It was only last year that we had our Women’s team participate overseas, since then much has changed; therefore we will seek out where we stand, and what improvements need to be made. Since this is our Senior National team, the age group will range from (14-27).
The local team will play a total of (4) games in (10) days against the likes of University of Tampa women’s team, Clearwater Chargers U18 girls, Fusion U18 girls, and Strictly Soccer U18 girls at the Collier Park Sports Complex. All four teams reside in Tampa, Florida.
Head Coach Jeremy Salaam will be ably assisted by Naquita Robinson, Aaron Denkins, Manager, Shirlene Dill, Physio and BFA Technical Director, Derek Broadley.
Salaam said, “We have put together a mix of experienced players and some young players, some of these players have already had the experience of College and some are just getting ready to take that step, so this will be a good experience for them.”
“We are still in the development stages of the Women’s National Programme and we are hoping to get a firm understanding of where we are after this tour, continued Salaam. “There are a number of players that we would have liked to have in the squad, however due to either injury, work and or school commitments they are unavailable.”
“Florida is a known place in America where the players are physical and technically sound, so we are looking to match the competition and gain a sense of where we are,” concluded Salaam.
