Pearman Sr. & Jr. Shine

IslandStats.com
Back in Mid-July www.islandstats.com was the only local media to cover Junior Golfers overseas including Dwayne Pearman Jr. who was playing in the R&A Junior British Open Championships at the Lundin Golf Club, St. Andrews, Scotland.

Pearman Jr. who finished T82 won the North American & Caribbean Title as the Top player from the region in the tournament.

Dwayne Pearman Sr. said, “I think it was a good experience for him, he played steady even though he was using a new putter for the tournament (he broke his putter on the way over), the rest of his game was good.”

“He got the chance to experience watch a Major Tournament as we stayed to watch to British Open, I just think he will indeed play much better when he gets the chance to put more time into his game,” concluded Pearman Sr..

Today’s Bermuda Professional Golf Association’s Jack Daniels Golf Tour event was held at the Magnificent Mid Ocean Club, with the fairways and greens receptive from the rain over the Cup Match weekend, the course was in fabulous condition, the scoring would be tricky however with the blustery wind making it difficult to score.

It would be Dwayne Pearman that would take the early lead which he would never relinquish, starting with an eagle on the 2nd hole to then go 3 under after 3 holes. Also starting well was Paul Adams, also starting with an eagle on the second, but with multiple 3 putts, it was never going to be his day. In contrast Eric West started with a four putt first and came back to finish in 3rd place on 72.

So it was the Port Royal duo of Pearman and Daniel Augustus that took 1st and 2nd place with a 68 and 71 respectively.

In the order of merit race, Scott Roy was unable to play so it was Adams who took the lead, Adams now has a slender one point lead over Twilton Smith with Adams set to take 2 weeks off soon, it is likely that Smith will be points leader come September.

Next week is at Belmont, where a course record maybe in sight with many inform players capable of going low!
