Leverock Say’s Goodbye

An emotional Dwayne Leverock said Goodbye to the Annual Cup Match Classic. Leverock said, “I have played for 15 years and the time has come for me to call it a day, I played for you the fans and gave my all, I am grateful for everything we have shared over the years and I will cherish the memories.”

Leverock played his first Cup Match in 1990 and now that he has bowed out his Career Cup Match Numbers stand at 16 innings, 1 not out, 209 runs with a top knock of 33 in the batting department.

Leverock’s bowling figures saw him bowl 333.3 overs, 79 maidens, he gave up 1,295 runs and took 44 wickets, Leverock also held onto 9 catches over his Cup Match Career.

Leverock said, “This is something that I have decided to do, the time is right I started out in Somerset and now it ends in Somerset.”

Speaking to the current players Leverock said, “To the players these fans come out to watch you put on a show so I ask you to give it your all play your hearts out and give the many spectators what they come out to watch a very entertaining game, give it 110% each and every time you walk on the field, because they come to watch Bermuda’s Best perform and with that I say Thank You.”

It was announced that Leverock won the 2010 Safe Hands Award, Leverock becomes the third player behind Janeiro Tucker and Chris Foggo to win the award for the second time.

Leverock won the award for his catch to dismiss Justin Pitcher, Leverock fielding in the slips snatched the ball out of the air after Pitcher flashed at a ball and got an edge to.

Cup Match MVP

Deunte Darrell was named the 109th Annual Cup Match Classic MVP. Darrell had the games top knock of 72.

Darrell walked to the wicket at 11:15am on Thursday morning, with Somerset Cricket Club 24/2, he and Stephen Outerbridge put on a third wicket partnership of 48 runs.

When Darrell was eventually out the Somerset score stood at 190/7, Darrell faced 93 balls, hitting 11 fours and 1 six.
