The Bermuda Junior Golf Association has officially taken over the running of the RBT Junior International Classic. This year’s event will take place August 3rd through August 6th at Mid Ocean Club and Tucker’s Point Club in Bermuda.
Last years’ RBT Junior International Classic saw over 40 local and overseas young participants. James Campbell, the new Chairman of the RBT Junior International Classic anticipates a larger field this year, with at least four countries being represented.
Campbell said, “Already, overseas entries are up which is very encouraging for us all especially, giving that this is the first year the event is being run by the BJGA. So far, we have entries from juniors from the UK, USA, Italy and Germany.”
He continued, “Again we are grateful for our relationship with the International Junior Golf Academy/Tour (IJGA/IJGT). They played a key role last year in promoting and securing overseas participants. This year we are having a special clinic put on by coaches from the IJGA for the participants. They will also host a clinic for local golf professionals on teaching junior golfers. I believe our relationship with IJGA/IJGT will continue to benefit this tournament and local golf.”
Campbell stated, “On behalf of the committee, I’d like to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, The Bermuda Department of Tourism, The Ross “Blackie” Talbot Foundation, D&J Construction, Grotto Bay Beach Resort, Mid Ocean Club, Tucker’s Point Club, Dunkley’s Dairy and To A Tee as well as our many Tee and Green sponsors, without whose financial assistance, this event would not be possible.”
We anticipate over 50 top junior golfers to attend the event this year. The committee has been promoting the event across North America, Canada as well as with junior golfing associations in Europe and South America.
