Dennis Brown Founder & Director of Coaching and Youth Development for the Bermuda Brazilian Football School said, “In keeping with our mandate to foster the mental, physical and emotional growth in youth through football both nationally and internationally, Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School will embark on a tour of the UK from Thursday, July 29 – Monday, August 9, 2010.
The tour will consist of an intense itinerary that will see the players train at academies; play matches and also attend 3 live matches while on tour. This will be our second tour to the UK where last year was very successful and this year we will look to educate our players on and off the field once again. The tour party will consist of 29 players from a host of clubs (BAA, Dandy Town, Devonshire Colts, Devonshire Recreation Club, North Village, PHC, Somerset Cricket Club, Southampton Ranger Sports Club, St. George’s Cricket Club and Young Men’s Social Club ranging in age from 9-17 years old and matches have been arranged for our u-10, u-13 and u-16 teams. The players will be accompanied by Head of Delegation – CEO Cal Blankendal, Director of Coaching and Youth Development Brown, Assistant Coach Jermaine Smith, Women’s Trainee Coach Jenae Edness, 4 Youth Trainee Coaches/Players and 5 Chaperones.
In keeping with our 100 % drug free policy, the entire tour contingent was tested by our partners BCDS with the consent of parents. This bodes well for the future and also in what we will continue to encourage. It is vital to the mission of fostering our youth in non-drug/alcohol influenced circles and our success to date is a measure of our commitment. The tour will give players and coaches an opportunity to develop new lasting friendships and learn about cultures outside of our own. In the future we will look to increase the educational opportunities of our young people both on and off the field and to expand our overseas.”
