Pacers Athletes Round Up

The Bermuda Pacers Track Club returned home with seventeen individual medals and established (2) two new meet records.

www.islandstats.com was the only Sports Media in Bermuda who covered the athletes while they competed over the weekend and Pacers coiach Cal Simons has written this report in order to get the other media to recognize the young people talents in Bermuda.

In the 13-14 girls’ 800 metre finals, Scraderscrossed the finish line in 2.19.34 establishing a new meet record and running a personal best. Donawa, not to be outdone by his age group counterpart, established a new meet record in the 13-14 boys’ triple jump with a leap of 12.53 metres. Donawa then went on to win the 13-14 boys’ long jump with a leap of 5.89 metres.

Other gold medal performances were turned in by Demiqua Daniels in the 11-12 girls’ turbo javelin throw, with a throw of 20.18 metres, and Jordan Bascome, competing in the 13-14 girls’ high jump captured the gold medal with a leap of 1.45 metres. The 11-12 girls’ 4x400 metre relay team which consisted of Azaire Smith, Quaashie Douglas, Jaymie Darell and Jahtia Smith, won the event convincingly with a time of 4.17.93.

The team also collected seven silver medals. Syriah Lottimore won two silver medals in the 9-10 girls’ long jump with a personal best leap of 4.24m and the 9-10 girls’ 400 metres with a time of 1:06.71. Also winning two silver medals was Deesa Booth in the 15-16 girls’ shot putt (9.79m) and discus throw (24. 49m). Other silver medal winners were Scraders in the 13-14 girls’ 1500 metres in 5:00.05, Azaire Smith in the 11-12 girls’ 400metres in 61.15sec and Jumar Mouchette in the 15-16 boys’ 3000 metres in a time of 9.39.07 sec. Also capturing a silver medal was Bermuda Flyers track club member, Darico Clarke, in the 17-18 boys’ 800 metres in a time of 1.56.00

Bronze medals were also won by Haile Eve in the 11-12 boys’ long jump with a Personal Best leap of 4.25 metres, Karim Creary in the 15-16 boys’ 400 metres in a time of 52.75, Azaire Smith in the 11-12 girls’ 200 metres in time of 27.24 and Syriah Lottimore in the 9-10 girls’ 200 metres in a time of 29.25.
