Daniel Augustus showed his mental toughness to win the Bermuda Pro Golf Tour Jack Daniels Series #4 event at Tuckers Point today.
Though the conditions were perfect for low scoring it was always going to be who handled the sandy greens the best. The tournament started on the 10th hole of Tuckers Point and after Augustus birdied 14, 15 and 16 never looked back and never look like shooting over par making the turn at -2.
Eric West was only one shot back after nine and even with birdies on the second and third hole couldn't quit catch Augustus.
West's finish proved costly as he bogeyed 5, 6 and 8 which in turn allowed Augustus to double bogey the 6th to still win by 2 shots. Paul Adams had a bit of a slow start but his 1 under second nine gave him a tie for second with West, Dwayne Gibson and Cornell Bean finishing in a Tie for 4th at (+2) 72 leaving them shaking their heads at what could have been.
Just over half way through the season Scott Roy still leads the Race to the Gosling's Invitational Order of Merit, but his lead has been trimmed to a mere 10 points over Paul Adams and 16 points over Twilton Smith.
