Stephen Outerbridge Statement
In light of the events that have transpired over the last few days, I would like to note when ever I have spoken to the mass media it has definitely been on behalf of myself or my teammates. At know time have I insinuated or spoken on behalf of Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club (i.e. Management). I will reiterate my argument to those that struggle to comprehend on what I have said in concerns to this year’s Eastern County Competition. I am only concerned about resolving an issue that the Eastern Counties Cricket Association (ECCA) and each Eastern County Team has contributed towards, however all parties are unwilling to resolve or come to a common agreement for the time being. As an Eastern Counties Club Captain I have become quite concerned of the thought of not being able to compete against the true Eastern Counties Champion on August 28, 2010. It could be either be St.Davids, Cleveland or Flatts, as long as the champion has been decided on the field of play through two rounds of competitive cricket As a cricketer my main objective is to be the best and to beat the best in my chosen sport. However with St.Davids withdrawing and relinquishing their Eastern Counties crown and not playing through the series as normal, these actions have severely damaged one of my main goals for this cricket season.
I have continually asked for all parties to humble their selves and sit down together and resolve these issues not only for me but the spectators, fans and children and most importantly for the betterment of the GAME. Those in so called power administration positions within the ECCA and their Affiliated members need to realize selfish acts will not go unpunished therefore it’s the GAME which will suffer the most. One most remember that without the GAME no party involved would be able to demand, question, allocate or boycott over monetary revenue which is generate from the GAME.
Enclosing, as a act of desperation I ASK the Eastern Counties Cricket Association, St.Davids Cricket County Club, Cleveland County Cricket Club, Flatts Victoria Cricket Club and most importantly the club that I have given everything I have to offer this season (i.e. Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club) to put your grudges, vendettas, problems aside and save the INTEGRITY of the GAME, which we in Eastern Parishes love so Much….
Firstly cancel a so called 20/20 Eastern Counties Cricket Club competition and schedule it for a later date in the season, and then do all you can to ENSURE St.Davids and Cleveland go head to head in the first round of the Eastern Counties on July 17, 2010 at Sea Breeze Oval.. Just remember Its NEVER TOO LATE…
