GB Coach Announces Final 14
As www.islandstats.com first reported two days ago GB Standard Life Women's Head Coach Tom Maher has decided on his final 14 for the forthcoming EuroBasket Qualifiers and remaining test games that includes Jenaya Wade-Fray.

The 2010 fixtures mark Maher's first senior campaign with British Basketball after leading a young GB team to a top six finish at the World University Games in 2009. Four of the players selected in his final 14 played under his leadership in Belgrade - Johannah Leedham, Rose Anderson, Chantelle Handy and Azania Stewart.

There has also been two new faces added to the final roster which contains a mixture of experience and youth. Guard Natalie Stafford who plays for Barking Abbey Leopards and Rachael Vanderwal who currently plays for UL Basketball Club in the Irish Super League. The two players who will miss out for this summer's campaign are Rosalee Mason and Stephanie Gandy.

Maher said: "It has been extremely difficult to select the final 14 players who will see us through the test games against Portugal, Belgium, Holland and Israel and the EuroBasket Qualifying campaign.

"I would like to thank Rosalee and Stephanie for their commitment to the GB cause this summer, but a couple of players had to miss out. We think we have selected a balanced roster in terms of experience and youth whilst also ensuring we have good cover in all positions.

"We welcome Natalie and Rachael to the Standard Life GB team. They have been on our radar for a while and we feel now is the correct time to introduce them to the roster."

The GB Standard Life Women's team will take on Portugal this weekend as part of a double header which will be staged in Surrey. Maher will be hoping to build on the recent test series in Bulgaria where his GB team recorded one win and one loss. Ellesmere Port born Johannah Leedham will miss both games through injury, however should be fit for the remainder of the campaign.
