Bermuda Under 19’s 184/8 Phoenix Academy - Barbados 103
Bermuda won the toss and elected to bat in this game that was reduced to a 36 over game, participating in the 2010 Sir Garfield Sobers Tournament in Barbados.
Bermuda posted a score of 184/8 in their allotted 36 overs, Kamau Leverock was the top scorer with 52 runs, while Deunte Darrell added 38 and William White chipped in with 29.
In reply Bermuda Under 19’s bowled Phoenix Academy – Barbados all out for 103. Kirk Brown had figures of 6-0-15-2, while Joshua Gilbert bowled 8-0-20-2 and Greg Maybury returned figures of 5-0-27-2.
Eastern Counties Cricket Association’s
The Eastern Counties Cricket Association’s (ECCA) President Harold Millett and Secretary Gregory Johnson sent out a signed Press Release to the public.
To our affiliate members, loyal fans and supporters, volunteers and the cricketing fraternity at large who have supported the Eastern Counties Cricket Association (ECCA) throughout its 107 years, we take this opportunity to apologize for the recent events that have led to this controversial situation. The ECCA regrets the decision that one of its founding members, St. David’s County Cricket Club, has withdrawn their participation in the 2010 Series. However, we would like to assure the public that we will move forward with the remainder of the 2010 Series.
The ECCA has always worked diligently and proactively towards instituting change for the betterment of the game and we continue to strive to improve the quality of the series for the benefit of our loyal fans and supporters.
We take pride in the fact that we have strongly supported various junior initiatives.
The ECCA would like to thank its many sponsors for their continued and unwavering support over the years.
We realize there will always be challenges within an organization and we look forward to resolving any outstanding issues in the near future to ensure that all of our affiliates can once again participate in the series and can all benefit fairly in the spirit in which our forefathers envisioned, which includes embracing the entire community.
In closing, the Eastern Counties Cricket Association is pleased advise that we will be hosting a free family fun day at Sea Breeze Oval. There will be a 20/20 cricket tournament between Cleveland County Cricket Club, Flatt’s Victoria Recreation Club and Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club starting at 9 a.m. Food stalls will be open and we will have a fun castle and slide for the children.
BCB Disciplinary Committee Rulings
The Bermuda Cricket Board confirmed the results from the Disciplinary Committee hearing on Tuesday 13 July, 2010.
Charlie Marshall - Young Men's Social Club
Based on the evidence presented to the committee Marshall was levied an Official Reprimand and is on probation until the end of the cricket season with immediate effect.
