Coach Denise Somers IslandStats.com Members of the Bermuda National Junior Squash Team continued to compete in the Caribbean Junior Squash Championships in Cayman Islands.
Four players played in the Semi-Finals, Bermuda's top seed and Boy’s Under 17 Number 1 ranked Noah Browne overpowered Mandela Patrick from Guyana. Patrick ran for all he was worth - he had to - but as the match wore on the constant pressure of Noah Browne’s shots, and not a little skill and deception too, took its toll going down 12-10, 11-5, 11-3.
Then it was Nku Patrick's turn. After toppling the top seed in the morning he now faced Bermuda’s D'Vario Thompson in the Boy’s Under 15 Semi-Final. Patrick was at a physical disadvantage, but not as great as the one his brother had faced. Nevertheless Thompson took early control and the lead, but as the match wore on Patrick got to grips with his opponent's game and was able to run down pretty much everything Thompson could throw at him. Thompson persisted in trying to outpower his opponent, but it wasn't working any more, and Patrick grew more and more assured as he progressed to the final in four games 5-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-4.
Emma Keane faced off against the Girls Under 15 number 1 seed Victoria Arjoon from Guyana, Keane went down in straight sets 11-2, 11-7, 11-7 and in the Boy’s Under 19 Semi-Final Micah Franklin the divisions second seed will meet the Divisions number one seed Cameron Stafford from Cayman after he defeated Kale Wilson from Trinidad in straight sets 11-7, 11-7, 11-8.
