Shonte Campbell and her Hotchkiss Girls Varsity Teammates are taking part in the 2010 Donasti Cup that has 331 teams from 18 countries, a total of 5500 participants competing over the seven days of the tournament in Spain.
The 2010 Donasti Cup is in the 19th year of the annual tournament and the biggest ever. The opening ceremony last night featured all the teams parading in the Anoeta Stadium (San Sebastian) in front a very large and boisterous crowd. The night included a full on the field show with dancers, music and ended with a fantastic fireworks display above the stadium.
Campbell and her teammates then got down to business by defeating Sanse Union 3 – 0, after creating several chances in the first half Hitchkiss was unable to score with the half ending 0 - 0.
Mid-way through the second half, Hotchkiss took the lead from a corner kick, minutes later Campbell doubled the lead beating the advancing goalkeeper with a low shot. The third goal was also masterfully scored by Campbell from a cross.
