Reading United 2 Bermuda Hogges 0
The Bermuda Hogges have failed to scored a single goal against the Bermuda Football Association’s Technical Director Derek Broadley’s former Team Reading United following this 2 – 0 lost at the Exeter High School.
Throughout the first half, the United persisted offensively, out-shooting the Hogges 10-1. With only four minutes on the clock, Reading had its first look at a goal, Ged Quinn’s cross from left field was deflected out of bounds, Stephen Hogan took the corner kick for Reading. The ball bounced off a Reading player’s chest into Bermuda goalkeeper Freddy Hall’s chest followed by the ground where the Hogges took defensive control to keep the game scoreless.
Bermuda’s lone shot at goal came in the 27th minute as Angelo Simmons tried to maneuver around United’s Matt Hedges. Unable to get a shot off, Simmons settled for a pass to Shayne Hollis by the right post. Reading exhibited an array of defense, including United goalkeeper Jeremy Vuolo diving for the shot-deflecting save.
In the 30th minute, Reading’s Corey Hertzog scored one of his two goals. In the middle of the field, Luke Mulholland passed the ball to Houapeu on the left wing. Houapeu’s crosse saw Hertzog head the ball into the back of the net, giving Reading a one-point advantage.
In the 43rd minute Hertzog doubled the lead a long ball foward from the Reading defense, saw Hertzog outpace the Hogges defense and round Hall to score.
Neither team found the net in the second half, as Hall again was kept busy.
