Jenaya Wade-Fray and her GB Standard Life women's teammates in their first test match of the summer, were narrowly defeated by a quality Bulgarian side.
The game signified Tom Maher's first game in charge and despite the defeat it will be a case of a worthwhile outing but plenty to improve upon. Although the game finished 64 - 61 in favor of Bulgaria, the score doesn't tell the whole story with the GB team leading up until half time (32 - 35) only for Bulgaria to take the initiative for the remainder of the game.
There was some notable performances in the GB team including Jo Leedham who top scored with 20 points, but credit should also be given to Julie Page and Steph Collins whilst Kim Butler and Azania Stewart also competed well. Wade-Fray finished the game with 2 points and 2 assist.
Maher reflecting on the night's performance was quick to point out that the game was a good work out for the team.
"This was a good first up performance against a quality Bulgarian team. Our team defense still needs attention and we have to control the tempo of the game for longer periods. If we can improve on this then we will have a great chance in our next match.
"Jo Leedham made a great contribution at both ends of the floor and it was great to see that she is setting the pace for rest of the team."
