Bermuda Hogges 0 Ironbound Express 1
The Bermuda Hogges have gone down 1 – 0 to Ironbound Express at the BAA Field. Ironbound started quickly surprising the Hogges as they only arrived on the Island four hours earlier and took only eight minutes to take the lead.
A Hogges clearance fell to the feet Frank Alesci who was some 20 yards out, he unleashed a right footed drive that gave a diving Freddy Hall no chance.
Hall was called upon several times to deny the Express from doubling their lead. Hall made two point blank saves as midway through the first half as the Hogges struggled at time to put passes together. Nahki Well had the Hogges first chance in the first half but his shot went over the crossbar, Tyrell Burgess forced the Express goalkeeper to make a save from a free kick.
The second half brought frustration for the Hogges as they found themselves defending for long periods, however they did create a few chances, just when it looked as if they would force their way into the game Wells was shown the red card in the 84th minute after a foul that then turned into a shoving match between the players.
In the 88th minute Burgess had a shot come back off the upright and then one minute later Marquel Waldron’s header hit the crossbar.
