The Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championship starts on Friday June 18th, with Bermuda's top male amateurs tackling the Port Royal Golf Course. The men will be battling over 72 holes. The winner will receive an exemption into the Dixie Amateur in Coral Springs Florida in December. Last years winner, Daniel Augustus, who finished T13th shooting a round of 75 in the Rio Pinar Tournament on the Moonlight Tour ten strokes behind winner Kyle Pressley has turned professional and will not be able to defend his title. This year however show one of the strongest fields that the Stroke Play has had. With players such as Dr. Robert Vallis, Nick Mansell, Hav Trott, Jarryd Dillas, Camiko Smith, Adam Mattatall and others in the field, this will definitely display Bermuda's top amateur talent.
In the ladies division, defending champion, Tariqah Walikraam looks to win her third title in a row this year. Senior's Stroke Play Champion, Kathy Lloyd-Hines, Bermuda's 2010 Match Play Ladies Champion, Katrin Burnie, and WATC member, Ebonie Burgess will be in the hunt. Notable players in the field this week are Senior's Stroke Play runner up, Betty Ann Sudbury, Katyna Rabain, Cindy Hardart, Ann Symonds, Nikki Boyce and Susan Vallis. The ladies division is the strongest in many years with anyone able to win.
