Greg Maybury and his Oakham XI teammates took on a Brentwood that were fielding a team with over half their players in the Essex county set up including two in England age group programmes.
Oakham began against their new opposition by losing two early wickets and slumping to 9 for 2 after 5 overs. Alex Martin and Tom Fell steadied the ship putting on over 100 runs for the 3rd wicket with Martin falling only 15 short of his first Oakham century. Oakham finished on 217-9 with Maybury scoring 12 not out batting at number 8. Oakham then replied with a similar start, as Maybury took 2 wickets in his first two overs putting Brentwood under pressure, Maybury allowing only 5 runs from the first 4 overs.
Maybury went on to dismiss four of the top five -with a dropped catch- to finish with his best ever figures for Oakham 6-0-13-4, as Brentwood were eventually bowled out for 71 giving Oakham a victory of 146 runs, the largest of the season.
