Tyrone Smith competed in Long Jump at Rice University again and turned in a fine performance. Smith had leaps of 8.07m and 8.08m, the 8.07 was with a negative 1.3 headwind and then he broke his own 2 year old Long Jump record with a winning leap of the 8.08m with a 1.6 tail wind.
Aaron Evans finished 3rd in the NCAA 800m Final with a time of 1:46.87. Evans finished behind Andrew Wheating who was clocked in at 1:45.69 and Robby Andrews who finished in 1:46.83.
Bermuda Track and Field President Donna Watson said, “In regards to the CAC ranking our athletes are sitting in some good positions for medals going into the CAC Games especially as Cuba will not be competing in the Games. Evans is in 3rd position with 2 Cuba athletes ahead of him. Shianne Smith is 5th with 3 Cuba athletes ahead of her. Tyrone Smith is 3rd with 1 Cuba athletes in front of him and Aranxta King is positioned 11th. “We have a busy weekend ahead of us. King competes tomorrow in the NCAA Long Jump. Tre Houston will be competing in Switzerland in the 100m & 200m. We also have athletes heading off to Bostonto compete Shaquille Dill, Taylor Ashley Bean, Ashley Berry, Darico Clarke, Dage Minors and Kameron Creighton.
