Woods Spending Summer Home

IslandStats.com
Erica Woods will go into her second year at Marshall University as one of her Women’s Basketball teams leaders following the graduation of seven of the players from last years team.

www.islandstats.com caught up with Woods to ask her a few questions.

Q. Where you prepared for the work at Marshall both on the court and off the court?

A.
The first semester in the class room was hard but toward the end it got easier to balance, however the workouts on the court was easier as I attended the IMG Academy and we done a lot of conditioning work.

Q. What did you think about your first season at Marshall University?

A.
I think the season overall was a good one, I would have liked it to end better, but those things happen. As for my game I was happy with it.

Q. You was selected to travel to Great Britain for another Summer Tour with the Great Britain Under 20 Women’s Basketball Team is that still on the cards?

A.
No, after some discussion with my mother and father, it was decided that I come home this summer and work, I would like to thank the Director of Youth, Sport & Recreation Norbert Simons for giving me the opportunity to experience my first real job where I actually make money. Great Britain is not out of the card, but we all felt that I needed to experience life with a job, so that is what I am doing.

Q. What have you been doing at Youth and Sports?

A.
I have spent time working alongside Charryse Bean who is the Senior Recreational Officer, we have worked to finish the final touches on the Islands preparing them for campers, I have also spent time working as a receptionist and doing some filing so I am liking it thus far.

Q. What do you think is in store for you and Marshall in 2010/11?

A.
This year is going to be very interesting, with the new players coming in, I don’t feel any added pressure I just hope we have a good pre-season and then things workout from there, we are going to be a lot smaller than last year but we should be able to push the ball up the floor quicker. As for me I am hoping to improve on my jump shot, I am known for my defense but I want to add to my game and become a jump shooter to help the team.
