Argentina's Sebastian Fernandez leader improved his performance two strokes on the first day to impose a new record for field and tournament for 9-under 63 at the Toyota Open Peru 2010. With this demonstration the Buenos Aires expanded from one to eight-shot advantage on the board of leaders.
However Eric West had a different day, after shooting a first round 1-over par 73, West shot a 3-over par 75 to finish T52nd 4-over par in total and missed the cut by one stroke.
West started out on the front nine and was +1 at the turn after shooting one Birdie, six Pars and two Bogey’s. West had an Birdie on the Par 4 Tenth hole to get back at Even Par, but a Bogey on the Par 4 Eleventh hole saw him go back to 1 Over and when he shot another Bogey on the Par 3 Seventeenth it dropped him out of the Open.
