While three players Kevin Tucker, Jim West and Chris Douglas have late fitness test, to prepare for the upcoming ICC Americas World Cricket League Division 1 tournament, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has announced its 14-man squad for the ICC Intercontinental Shield tour of Bermuda in July 2010.
Khurram Khan will lead the side with Mohammad Tauqir, who returns from injury, as his deputy for the tour which involves the four-day Intercontinental Shield match and also two 50-over games and one Twenty20 match. Four players, Swapnil Patil, Tahir Butt, Saqib Shah and Mois Shahid, will be making their debuts in the series.
UAE is placed third in the tournament points table with a four-wicket win over Namibia in December 2009 and a drawn match against Uganda in January this year.
Speaking to Gulf News, Mazhar Khan, ECB Administrator said: "UAE will have to subdue Bermuda to play in the finals of the ICC Intercontinental Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai in November. Namibia meets Uganda next and both are strong contenders so we have selected a good mix of youth and experience in the team."
