Greg Maybury

A poor fielding display, where at least 20 runs were conceded through sloppy fielding, was the downfall of Maybury and the Oakham XI on Doncaster Close.

Fielding first, Oakham had them tied down early on thanks to some tight bowling from opening pair of Maybury and James Keywood. However, they managed to pull away slightly in the middle overs until Ben Jacobs-Farnsworth, Chris Billows and James Spence took pace off the ball and stifled the run rate, Bedford finished on 198-6 off 40 overs - a total which was thought to be reachable. Maynury finished with 2-18.

A solid start was needed but both Bowman, Edwards and Martin all fell cheaply. Tom Fell and Luke Spears then had a great partnership which brought the momentum back to Oakham and when Fell departed on 40, Jacobs-Farnsworth also looked in good nick. With Spears closing in on his half century, he was run out leaving Oakham in a perilous position. Foster, Spence and Maybury all chipped in with a few but we were a in the end just 6 runs short. Maybury finished on 12.
