At a super bouncy and fast Port Royal during the Jack Daniels Golf Tour was a tough examination for the island professionals, with Dwayne Pearman and Cornell Bean not able to play, Daniel AugustusScott Roy was going to be firm favorites and as it turned out Augustus fresh off his unsuccessful attempt to qualify for the US Open won by an impressive 8 shots.
Augustus said, “It was a struggle but I made a 10 footer on 15 for bogey that could have made my round turn real ugly I made three consecutive 5 footers coming in to hold my round together. Today’s round could have gotten away from me but some key putts kept me in the game. Another two 15 foot putts on 11 and 12 where momentum boosters. Wasn't the best performance but I had to grind it out somehow.”
The rest of the field struggled with the greens and it was a magnificent birdie on the last by Paul Adams on the last to grab a share of second place with Twilton Smith was one of the few highlights of what most consider a tough day.
Derriek Douglas again showed everyone how to start with a birdie-birdie start, but again faded on the last few holes.
