The Bermuda Seniors Stroke Play Championship got underway at the Riddell’s Bay Golf & Country Club in tough wind conditions and with hard to judge greens made scoring higher than many players had expected.
Defending Champion Max Atherden showed why he was the man to beat with a very impressive 2-over par 72, with birdies on 7, 8 and 9, Atherden had full control of his game posting 2-under par for the front nine.
Jeffrey Lindo, another player noted for being at the top of the leader board seemed to be in the top seat until taking a double bogey 5 on hole 17 and bogey on 18 to finish 6-over par 76, Hav Trott is currently in third place after his first round 7-over par 77, but is no way out of the tournament with his experience in posting very low numbers.
Round two for the men continue tomorrow, May 12th while the Ladies start their first round at 9am.
