An All Bermudian Rowing Team recently competed in the Lanier Sprints on Lake Lanier in Georgia.
The Bermuda Team coached by Giuliana Gonsalves from the USA consist of Jacinto Brown, Erik Pearson (brother of Bermudian junior world rowing champion - Shelley Pearson), Ellen Amaral, Leah Amaral, Julia Judd, Katrina Hassell, Brittany Hassell, Chloe Brooks, Stephanie Wright and Sophie Simmons.
In what is being described as a great race, the team of Brown and Pearson won the Doubles Novice race by 3 tenths of a second, the pair completed the course in a time of 4:17.40.
Pearson then finished 6th in the Men’s 1x Second Final with a time of 4:12.24, while in the Men’s Jr. Novice Singles Final Brown crossed the line in 3rd in a time of 4:28.86.
The Women’s Jr. 4x Final, the team of Amaral, Judd and the Hassell’s finished 4th in a time of 3:55.19, while Brookes and Judd finished 3rd in Women’s Jr. Double Novice and Amaraland Katrina Hassell finished 4th in Women’s Jr. Double Varsity in a time of 4:30.20.
