The Bermuda Equestrian Federation’s Public Relations Officer McKeisha Smith has sent out a Press Release for the upcoming Caribbean Equestrian Association Junior Jumping Competition, Bermuda leg that will take place on Saturday May 8th & Sunday May 9th at the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street.

Jahdayna Samuels, winner of the Fred Pimentel Award for the junior with the most points at the Annual Exhibition is hoping to be on form as she was at the Annual Exhibition when she represents Bermuda in the Caribbean Equestrian Association Junior Jumping Competition, Bermuda leg. Samuels along with veteran CEA competitor, Tyler Lopes will be looking to give a great showing in order to take home that first place finish.

Samuels and Lopes will be competing against CEA rivals, Barbados, Jamaica who have both taken the top spot in Bermuda for the past six years. Cayman who took the Blue Ribbon when they hosted the last leg of the CEA competition in March will also be here to compete. All teams will arrive to the island on Thursday 6th May 2010.

The CEA competition sees the likes of Antigua, Barbados, Cayman, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Bermuda compete in a junior jumping competition over the course of the year. Three teams travel to the islands according to their rotation for the year and are represented by two riders, a 14 years and under rider and 16 years and under rider. Samuels and Lopes along with the visiting riders will ride a series of local horses loaned by the generous members of the Bermuda Equestrian Federation.

Coach of the Bermuda team will be Nick DeCosta.

Smith who is also the Chairman of the CEA Bermuda Committee, said, “We would like to thank our title sponsor Montpelier Re for their sponsorship of this event and the Bermuda team for many years now, and Butterfield Bank, ACE Limited, and Crown Landscaping for sponsoring our visiting teams”. We are also reminded that without their four-legged animals, this show would not be possible, so thank you to the owners. The BEF wishes DeCosta and both riders much success. Lopes rides out of the Terceira’s stables while Samuels rides out of Inwood Stables”.
