Kirkland and St. Mary’s advanced to the Finals when they finished Second in the ICSA Western Semifinals which was won by Yale.
Races got underway at 9:30 in a steady southerly wind with speeds between 6-10knots. The Shifts came from both sides of the course and kept races close all day. The battle for 9th place and the last berth to the finals lasted until the last B fleet race with only 5 points between Stanford, U Miami and Eckerd.
Kirkland sailed the St. Mary’s B Division boat to a First Place Finish in the Standings with 38 points. Kirkland had Two first place finishes two second’s a third, fourth, sixth and ninth for his 38 points.
Optimist Dinghy Round Up
In Optimist Dinghy Advance Fleet Racing Sam Stan won eight of the day’s fourteen races, to finish in first place.
Stan had three second place finishes to go along with a third and two fourth’s, Ceci Wollmann and Ellie Wollmann finished T2nd on 37 points alongside.
