The PGA of Bermuda Championship Pro-Am, was held at the magnificent Tucker’s Point Club. Eleven teams competed for prizes from Bridgestone Golf and Goslings.
The 54 Hole Championship is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Jason Epstein, Director of Golf at Tucker’s Point team came out on top in the Pro-Am with its local knowledge the Team of Epstein, Mark Desaram, James Few and Jed Rhoads scored a blistering 13-under par 57, closely followed by the teams of Scott Roy and Brian Morris.
Roy and Dwayne Pearman look to be favorites this year, but with the tournament off the Black tees and high winds forecast it could be anyone’s tournament. There is a separate prize fund for the Senior Pros and it will be interesting to see who takes that prize, Robert MacRonald is the favorite if he can continue his good run of play.
Notable players not playing this year include Kevin Benevides and Epstein, who would have expected to challenge.
Epstein PGA Director of Golf said “Tucker’s Point is pleased to support the PGA of Bermuda and their Championship. The members of the association are fantastic ambassadors for Bermuda and the game of golf. Their commitment to the game, its values and tradition make hosting the event here at the club a natural fit. The course is in fantastic condition by any standard. The Professional staff is excited to be hosting the event on behalf of their fellow PGA members.”
