Shelley Pearson and her Harvard Women’s heavyweight crew teammates won two races and placed in three, including the varsity eight, in the O’Leary Cup regatta against No. 16 Dartmouth and Syracuse on the Charles River.
Pearson a member of the Harvard varsity eight got off to a good start and held overlap with Dartmouth for 500 meters, but Dartmouth steadily fell backward in the second 500. The Harvard and Syracuse continued to battle and were even at the midway point, but Pearson and Harvard moved as it hit the Harvard Bridge. Harvard continued to gain ground the rest of the way and beat Syracuse by nearly six seconds in 6:45.2. Dartmouth won in 6:32.0.
