Bermudian professional Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) player and coach, David Bascome, launched his annual HSBC Pro Soccer Clinic to male and female players between the ages of 4 – 14 years of age. This popular programme focuses on providing players the opportunity to build on their soccer skills and learn the importance of positive discipline both on and off the field.
BAA Field will be the new location for all of the programmes, kicking off on June 28th. This year in order to accommodate as many players as possible, the HSBC Pro Soccer Clinic will offer two weeks for the Kiddy Kickers and Pro Soccer Clinic Basic Group Programmes. The same programmes will be offered each week and parents have the option of choosing either week 1 or week 2. Application forms are available from HSBC branches: Church Street, Compass Point, Somerset, St. George’s and Head Office.
Kiddie Kickers, a starter clinic, is designed for the Island’s youngest players between 4 and 5 years and introduces FUN-damentals of soccer through basic soccer skills and fun drills during daily one hour evening sessions. Kiddie Kickers promotes parent involvement by requiring that parents accompany their children throughout the entire training session.
The basic and advanced programmes, provide players between the ages of 6 – 14 years with the opportunity to build on their soccer skills, become team players on and off the field and learn the importance of positive discipline from qualified coaches and experienced players.
The School of Excellence coed programme will again be offered to 10 selected participants between the ages of 12 -14 from the Pro Soccer Clinic. The School of Excellence runs from July 5th – 9th and involves classroom instruction, soccer training and work experience.
Participants will be coached by Bascome and seven professional soccer players and coaches from Bermuda and the United States. Coaches will include:
• Professional soccer player for Baltimore Blast and Fustsal national team player for USA, Denison Cabral • Former MISL player, Pro/College Scout Lester Felician • Danny Kelly MISL Professional and Head Coach for Baltimore Blast • Mike Williams, Vice President of Operations for Williams F.C, and former professional outdoor/indoor player and pro/college scout • Kelly Hammond and Maggie Pyzik, Professional youth soccer coaches USA • Wendell Regis, former MISL player.
