Jenaya Wade-Fray’s Tennessee of Chattanooga Basketball career unfortunately it did not end the way many would have wanted it too, www.islandstats.com has put together a few questions asking Wade-Fray about her accomplishments have given inspiration to many young Bermudians.
Q. What's your best memory of Tennessee of Chattanooga Basketball (UTC)?
A.My best memory would have to be my teammates, and all the good times we have had together - they have become my sisters and I will never forget any of them. I also am always going to remember my 4 conference rings, which is why I came to UTC. I knew this was a winning program and I came here to win.
Q. What's your worst memory of Tennessee of Chattanooga Basketball?
A. My worst memory would have to be pre and post season work-outs and conditioning. I am definitely not going to miss those at all. It's a part of basketball, but the least liked part.
Q. How would you describe the demands placed on college Basketball players?
A. There are a lot of demands put on basketball players from coaches, to family members, teachers, and friends. It's tough to keep up with your school work and being on the road during the season, practice and games take up most of your time so you definitely have to plan your time wisely so that you make sure you get everything done. You are always trying to do your best because someone is always watching you, you don’t want to disappoint your teammates, family of friends. You become role models on this level and you have to make sure you set a good example.
Q. After a four year career, what will you miss the most about Tennessee of Chattanooga Basketball?
A. My teammates, like I said earlier.
Q. What do you see yourself doing in five years?
A. Hopefully I will be overseas somewhere playing basketball, until I am unable to play anymore. As long as I get an opportunity I think that's what I will be doing, but if not I plan to get my masters and become a sports psychologist.
Q. What or how has playing Basketball changed for you over the years with the Tennessee of Chattanooga Basketball team?
A. Basketball has changed my outlook on everything in my life. Basketball has shown me that you have to work for what you want, things are usually not just handed to you. Everything is not going to go your way all of the time, but you have to keep on moving on and forget about what happened before - but learn from it at the same time. Basketball has given me a work ethic that will benefit me throughout my life.
Q. What is in the immediate Basketball future for Jenaya Wade-Fray?
A. I am supposed to travel overseas for to England for a Basketball Training Camp over the summer, then hopefully after that I will have an offer to play on a team.
Q. In closing, have you got any messages or words of wisdom for youngsters?
A. Basketball - Just keep your head up and practice. Practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice does. So just keep on working whenever you have the chance. Don't put your head down if something doesn't go your way, everyone has an off night, everyone has a bad game. It happens, no one is perfect but the key is to learn from it don't dwell on it and work towards fixing it the next time.
A. School - Don't procrastinate! Keep your grades up, because if you have any dreams of playing in college they do not just look at your athletic ability but also what you can do in the classrooms. A huge emphasis is put on grades at my school so you have to put in work in everything you do.
