Trying to reach the Cyprus finals for the second straight year, Sullivan Phillips’ APOEL hosted the opener of their Semi-Final against the leagues surprise team of this year Etha.
Phillips in his first year with APOEL scored 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds as they defeated Etha 93 – 83.
Etha fought the game until the final quarter, including holding the lead 16 – 10 midway through the first quarter, but Phillps and his teammates worked hard to lead 28 – 22 at the end on the period.
Etha shot the ball well and managed to tie the game at 42 - 42 with less than a minute remaining in the half and when the 3rd quarter ended the score was 63 – 61 to APOEL.
APOEL got in determined in the 4th period scoring 8 straight points to start to lead 71 - 61, and from there on it controlled the game.
APOEL got great defensive work from Phillips that contributed to the victory. Phillips known around the Cyprus National Basketball League as 'The Lion' had three steals during the 4th quarter.
