Lights at the National Sports Center’s North Field have either fallen down or have been taken down due to the recent high winds that plagued the island.
The issue with the lights has been an ongoing issue for a few months and at one point the gates on Frog Lane side had to remain locked for safety reasons.
Chairman of the National Sports Centre Trustees Sean Tucker said, “We have had a brutal winter with the winds, due to a combination of corrosion and high winds has seen lights damaged”.
“We have had to wait until it was safe for us to get workmen up the poles to take down the lights that were just hanging, we are now in the process of establishing the repair or replace facts”, continued Tucker.
“We are making sure that the lights that are still on the poles are secure and we are hoping to address the issue of replacing the others as quickly as possible”, concluded Tucker.
