James Eyes Up the Course IslandStats.com On a day with a stiff breeze and tricky greens, the Port Royal Golf Course was always going to be a test, and a day of whom ever could make the fewest mistakes would walk away with the title.
This proved to be David James’ day, James was making his debut on the Jack Daniels Tour serving notice that he will be a contender to watch for the rest of the season.
His steady play with only a minor fault of a double bogey on 17 had him cruise around Port Royal with a 74 to take the Series 1 title and the $700.00 top prize money.
The competition was not far behind with steady 75’s from both Scott Roy and home pro Dwayne Pearman with Roy steadying himself after an opening double bogey on the first hole.
Even more impressive was fourth place Chris Smith who showed you do not always have to hit it straight to score low as long as your short game is at its best. Smith managed a 77 after only hitting 3 greens in regulation and suffer a double bogey on 18 after hitting his tee shot into the pond.
The Order of Merit is still closely contested by the favorite’s led by Roy with 50 points, Pearman has 43 points and third is Paul Adams with 40 points.
The biggest move was of course James with his win moving him to 32 points and 6th in the standings.
