The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association have sent out a Press Release regarding the Squash Challenge held at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association last night that concluded at 10:00pm (See full results posted on www.islandstats.com in yesterday’s report)

The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association scored a resounding win against rival club CourtHouse in a recent Challenge match between the two top clubs.

The challenge featured teams of 20 players matching up from each club and seemed very even from the start. Christian Ince scored the first blow dispatching Chris Burns 3-0. Eddie Redmond then leveled the match with a win against BSRA’s Bruce Robinson. There were many great performances throughout both teams most notably Padraic Browne coming from two games down to beat CourtHouse’s Vladamir Rutstein 5-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-8, Tony Prentice versus Ryan Mather produced the longest game of the night with a nail biting 18-16 tie breaker, Dan Sullivan also fought back to defeat Stephen Drake in five games and Phil Barnes worked hard to squeeze out a 3-1 victory over Arthur Glassford.

CourtHouse players Andy McComb, JP Dyer, Michael Verster struggled with strength of the BSRA’s middle order all succumbing 3-0 to Micah Franklin, Thomas Sherratt and Colin Alexander respectively.

The final match of the night was the much anticipated rematch of the two club pro’s Patrick Foster (BSRA) and Colin Whitney (CH). Whitney having beaten Foster on their previous meeting was looking to get another with just a month before the start of the Digicel 3G Bermuda National Squash Championships. The match swung back and forth with Foster comfortably taking the first two games before tiring and allowing Whitney to get back into it to level the match at two all. The fifth game could have gone either way but it was Foster who took it in front of a loud home BSRA crowd 11-6, 11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 11-9 securing a overwhelming win the for the BSRA Team by 19 to 1.

The two clubs are set to make the challenge a regular fixture on the Bermuda Squash Calendar with monthly home and away matches to be hosted at both clubs.
