It was Mariners Spirit Day at the Sommersfield Academy School Field that saw them take on a Bermuda Select in Ladies 1st & 2nd games as well as Men's 1st & 2nd games.
In the day’s first game that saw the Ladies 2nd teams battle saw Marines and the The Bermuda Select play to a 2 – 2 draw. Danika Borden and Kelly-Ann Broom scored the Try’s for the Mariners Ladies, while Nicola Jones scored two Try’s for The Bermuda Select Ladies 2nd team. With the draw The Bermuda Select Ladies 2nd team retained the Trophy.
In the Men’s 2nd game all the points were scored early in the first half that saw The Bermuda Select win 12 – 10. Shauntino Simmons and Rob Veira scored a Try each for The Bermuda Select, while Scott Colbin kicked a conversion to take a 12 – 0 lead, but Try’s from Johann Oosthuizen and Steve Robb pulled the Mariners within two points but they could not score again as the Trophy went to The Bermuda Select.
In the Ladies 1st Team match up, The Bermuda Select defeated the Mariners Ladies 1st team 3 – 1. Melissa Field, Rachel McLaughlin and Amy Harvey scored the Try’s to lead The Bermuda Select to victory, while Carlene Antoine scored the lone Try for the Mariners Ladies 1st team.
In the Men’s 1st Team game the Mariners got Try’s from Kory Logan and Steve Husband, while Mark Pomeroy kicked two penalties and 1 conversion as they defeated the The Bermuda Select 18 – 0.
