Bermuda‘s Men‘s & Women‘s teams have finished 6th in the Caribbean Championships going on in Cayman Islands, the Bermuda Men’s Team went down 3 - 2 to Guyana, while the Bermuda Women’s Team went down 3 - 0 to Jamaica.
In the Men's 5th-6th place play-off match-up Alexander Arjoon gave Guyana the lead when he defeated Micah Franklin 3 - 1, Arjoon won the first two sets 11-6, 11-7, but Franklin won the third set 11-6, before going down 11-6 in the 4th set. Guyana went ahead 2 - 0 when Raphael deGroot defeated Stephen Smith 3 - 0. Degroot won the sets 11-2, 11-5 and 11-5. Bermuda’s Patrick Foster won the next game to make the score 2 - 1, Foster defeated Kristian Jeffery 11-6, 11-4 and 11-8 to win the game 3 - 0. Guyana wom the next game to take a 3 - 1 lead when Oliver Kear-Downes defeated Tim Shave 11-5, 11-6 and 11-7. With the game already in the bag Bermuda’s Mel Caines defeated Regan Pollard in a walk over to make the final score Guyana 3 Bermuda 2.
In the Women's 5th-6th place play-off match-up Minett Palmer-Lawrence gave Jamaica a 1 - 0 lead when she defeated Yvonne West 3 - 1. West won the first set 11-8, but Palmer-Lawrence bounced back to win the next three sets 11-2, 11-4 and 11-2. Brooke Burrowes defeated Kim Morbey 3 - 0, Burrowes won the three sets 11-4, 11-5 and 11-9. Lauren Mahfood then defeated Amy Chan 3 - 0. Manfood won the sets 11-2, 11-3 and 11/2.
