Caribbean Championships Update

IslandStats.com
Two rounds each in the Men's and Women's, by the end of which the semi-finals will be decided. Two rounds too for the Vets, but there it's a straight league so nothing's likely to be cast in stone there for a day or so yet.

In Women’s action after losing narrowly to Barbados yesterday, Guyana eased to a 4-1 win over Bermuda today to all but guarantee themselves a spot in the semi-finals.

Bermuda, with #1 Denise Sommers rested, were no match for the Guyanans.

Guyana’s Nicolette Fernandes defeated Bermuda’s Kim Morbey in straight sets 11-7, 11-5, 11-3, then Guyana’s Keisha Jeffery defeated Bermuda’s Amy Chan in straight sets 11-4, 11-3, 11-1. Kayla Jeffery from Guyana defeated Bermuda’s Yvonne West 11-2, 11-2, 11-3, before Guyana’s Victoria Arjoon defeated Bermuda’s Michelle Turner 12-10, 11-1, 11-6. Bermuda won the final match in a walk over.

On the Men’s side a crucial Group B clash saw Trinidad & Tobago win 4-1 over Bermuda, guaranteeing themselves a place in the last four and setting up a group decider with Cayman.
