Dominant from the start, the Barbados #1 was moving the ball from corner to corner, catching her opponent out with drops and boasts time after time. Added to that, nothing was going right from the Bermuda National coach Sommers, everything she tried hit the tin, just adding to her frustration.
The first two games slipped by quickly, with Meakins winning 11-2, 11-2, before winning the third game 11-5.
Patrick Foster went out in the Men’s Singles Quarter Finals when he loss a five set thriller to Dean Watson from Cayman Islands. Foster found himself down two sets to nil after losing the first two sets 11-8, 11-6. Foster fought back to win the next two sets 11-2, 12-10, but in the fifth and final set Foster went down 11-9.
Michelle Turner and <>Kim Morbey both loss their Plate Quarter Final match ups in straight sets, Turner went down 11-4, 11-0, 11-2 to Minett Palmer-Lawrence from Jamaica, while Morbey went down 11-3, 11-1, 11-5 to Nicole Currie from Trinidad.
