In Men’s Singles action, Trinidad & Tobago’s Kevin Ross removed the first seed, getting the better of three close games against Bermuda's Mel Caines 11-8, 11-7, 11-7. Caines was seeded 9/16. In other Men’s Singles action, Elijah Simmons went down in straight sets to Dean Watson from Cayman Islands 11-3, 11-2, 11-3. Patrick Forster got pass Warren Burrowes from Barbados in straight sets 11-8, 11-2, 11-8. Micah Franklin defeated Rhett Cumberbatch from Barbados in four sets 7-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7, Stephen Smith went down to Bryant Cumberbatch from Barbados 11-3, 11-6, 11-1 and then Tim Shave went down to Shawn Simpson from Barbados 11-6, 11-4, 11-4.
In the Women's draw an early upset saw Victoria Arjoon prevail over 9/16 seed Bermuda’s Kim Mobey with an unusual 11-0, 12-14, 12-10, 11-6 score line, Denise Sommers defeated Delia Canham from Cayman Island 11-2, 11-4, 11-2. Amy Chan went down 11-2, 11-2, 11-4 to Brooke Burrowes from Jamaica and Michelle Turner went down in straight sets to Amy Gellizeau from Trinidad 11-1, 11-2, 11-1.
