Crumpler Joins S.K.Y. Streetball

IslandStats.com
Chris Crumpler has joined the S.K.Y. Streetball Syndicate, S.K.Y. represents more than just street basketball-they are the "ambassadors" of sports and education. S.K.Y. stands for "Serving Knowledge to Youth."

Some consider these blacktop legends as iconic for their continuation of the sport invented by Dr. James Naismith that was rebirthed on the playgrounds from New York City down to Atlanta. Others see their game as a product of their environment with competition that sets the standard. Whatever the case may be, these players showcase something that other ballers do not offer-a package of academic programs, basketball lessons, and financial support for recreation centers in the community.

S.K.Y. has even set up S.K.Y. Excel, a program that gives students the opportunity to create a profile page that highlights school achievements, shows school extracurricular activities, and allows one to fundraise for college.

Waliyy Dixon, known on the basketball circuit as Main Event, said, "Streetball is about more than just playing on the court."

So who makes up the team? Coming from all over the United States, ballers on the team are:

Dennis Chism aka Spyda
Taurian Fontenette aka Mr. 720
Pat Robinson aka Pat Da Roc
Waliyy Dixon aka Main Event
Shane Woney aka Shane the Dribbling Machine
Anthony Heyward - Half Man Half Amazing
John Harvey aka High Octane
Earv Opang aka I'll Be Right Back
Jamar Davis aka The Pharmacist
Joe Vecsey aka Da Remedy
James Rhodes aka Big Swoal
Chris Crumpler aka Rain Main
Marvin Collins aka High Rizer

Giving back to the urban environments in which many of these players grew up has shown not only character but heart. With the misdirection of youth along with the lack of opportunities today, due to the current economic situation, education proves to play a major role in closing these gaps.
